We have a diverse range including hobby-based societies (photography, gaming), cultural and social groups, academic/professional development societies, sports and health clubs, and activism/charity groups. There's something for everyone!
Absolutely! You need at least 10 active members, a founding committee (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer), and to submit the "Start a society" form to staars@rave.ac.uk. The review process takes no more than 5 working days.
All recognised RSU clubs and societies can receive up to £250 funding per year. This can be used for food, snacks, soft drinks, society necessities, event tickets, printing, and venue hiring. Funding cannot be used for alcohol, drugs, or general expenses.
Recognised clubs receive funding access, use of campus facilities and rooms, promotion via SU channels, insurance cover for activities, and support from SU staff. Room bookings can be made by emailing roombookings@rave.ac.uk.
Submit a completed funding form to staars@rave.ac.uk with detailed information and specific links for items to be purchased. Wait for approval before making any purchases. Allow at least 2 weeks before your event to make a request.
The SU will check in to offer support and guidance. If there's no improvement after multiple contact attempts, this may lead to reduced access to funds, loss of active status, or permanent shutdown of the society.
Student Parliament meets once every semester where StAARS (Student Academic and Activities Representatives) can submit and vote on motions. All students can attend and submit motions, but only StAARS can vote. This helps shape the student experience at Ravensbourne.
